HA HA Buy This!
I usually do not support local artists. I prefer to spend my money on bland, unoffensive art that I can but at Bed Bath and Beyond, but for this guy, I might make an exception. You go Christopher Lee.

wild...ripoffs?

Heard a song about a month ago on the radio I couldn't place it but had heard it before, the DJ said it was Arcade Fire's Wake up from the movie Where the wild things are. I thought, "why are they playing a song from a movie that came out years ago and didn't Eddie Vedder do the whole soundtrack to that movie?". Well I was thinking of another movie with a similar name called Into the Wild , but it got me to thinking of how similar the story lines to both movies are. I haven't seen either movie and haven't read that Jon Krakauer book and may have read Where the wild things are when i was a kid but i sure as hell don't remember it but as much as i can piece together without reading or seeing the movie the only differce in story line is instead of dumb monsters you get Vince Vaughn and a piece of cake instead of wild potato root. Not only are the movies similar but the aforementioned song by arcade fire
has a very similar guitar riff to the QOTSA regular john song, but the biggest rip off has to be Green Day ripping off the guitar solo to 21 guns from Full house.
Whats my point and how does Kimmie Gibbler fit into all this? Well, I know that I will not see any of those movies unless its the late night movie on SuperCine. Decisión crítica was the dubbed movie of the nite last nite, nothing but quality.

New Deftones Song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been quite awhile since we've heard anything new from the Deftones. Word is that they scrapped the album they were working on before their bass player got into a car accident. However they are working on another album with former Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega filling in. I'm guessing this song "Rocket Skates" is from that as yet untitled album, but who knows. Haven't heard anything about a release date either. The band have been playing some shows, opening for Slipknot (including one here in San Jose that i couldn't go to).
As for the song, I think it's kinda cool. Obviously this isn't the best quality, but it's got a cool sound to it.

New Converge Video...Make A Me A Dizzy!
So i went to Best Buy today and picked up the new Converge album Axe To Fall, and to no one's surprise, it's amazing! Actually i wasn't too surprised because it leaked a few weeks ago so i heard it early. Still, i paid my money for it because, well, these guys deserve it.
And the point of all of this is...? Nothing, except the fact that their new video for the title track is insane. Like, hopefully you haven't had too much to drink when you watch it, cause you may yak all over your computer. So after that great endorsement, give it a looksie, OK?

Are The Hot Boys Really Coming Back?

Just saw an interview with Juvenile talking about a possible Hot Boys reunion album. He's confident that it will happen soon, possibly next year. There have been rumours of this for a few years now, so I'll believe it when I see it. The bad news is it sounds like it will only be 3 of the four members. It doesn't look like Turk is getting outta jail anytime soon. Still, it sounds like there is a little bit of hope here.
Still I have to wonder if Wayne is really down to do this. I mean he blew up big in the last few years. He doesn't really need this, right? If this does happen, I would love to see Mannie Fresh involved. What would a real reunion be without his beats behind them?
What we know for sure is that Juvenile and B.G. are both releasing albums in November. So, there's that. Check out a song that B.G., Wayne and Juvie did that may or may not end up on B.G.'s album. I hate the chorus, like, alot. But Juvie's flow saves this whole thing.

Nirvana News...No, Really
Yeah, great stuff. What's also great is the new Nirvana releases coming out next month.
First off is the 20th Anniversary of the Bleach album. It's getting remastered, but that's not all. It comes with a bonus live album recorded in Oregon in 1990. Sounds really cool to me.
As if that wasn't enough, a live DVD is coming out the same day, recorded from the Reading Festival in 1992. This was at the time where Nirvana-Mania was insane too. As a sick Nirvana fan, both of these releases are must haves in my opinion. Plus, I'm not sure how much of this unreleased stuff is left so enjoy it while you can.
Now, everyone all at once: "Thanks, Courtney"!!

All Hail Phantasio!
Thank the good Lord for WWE Classics On Demand. Without it, I never would have seen what I saw today. To be honest, I thought I knew about every lame WWF gimmick wrestler that failed. Apparently not. This is Phantasio. Not only is he a wrestler, but he's also a magician! This thing got over like a fart in church, as this is Phantasio's one and only WWF match. Enjoy.

Freddy's Back

I am not sure if this is old news but I just found out about it today. In a desperate effort to try and never create something new, Hollywood is resurrecting one of my old faves, Nightmare on Elm Street. I don't think that I am alone in here in saying that the original Elm Street was a classic, and it made us all scared to fall asleep. Though the subsequent movies got a little silly (Freddy as a Pizza?) the first one was well-paced, creepy, and brilliant. Plus Johnny Depp got massacred.
This the poster revealed at comic-con. No trailer yet, but we will be vigilant and put one up when it comes. Freddy is no longer being played by Robert Englund. Jackie Earle Haley, most widely known as playing Rorschach in the Watchman is donning the hat and blades. Here's hoping it is awesome.

Maybe Rap Music Doesn't Completely Suck After All
For the last few years, I've been pretty distant from rap music. I still listen to some stuff from time to time, but i didn't have that same excitement as i once had. I thought maybe I was just getting older. But I think it was just that I didn't hear anybody that was doing anything interesting.
That has all changed now that I've discovered Drake. Now, I know I'm not breaking any new ground with this. I'd heard he was supposed to be the next big thing for a little while now, but I was skeptical. I've heard that before. But after hearing a few of his rhymes, i can say he's for real. I like that he's not the stereotypical rapper. He's got a different vibe to him. After the jump, check out a few of his songs and let us know what you think.
The first one is a track called "Ignorant Shit" feat. Lil Wayne. Wayne does his best to follow Drake, but you can tell who wins here.
This next song is with Young Jeezy and (of course) Wayne. Once again, Drake murders this shit.
This is a song with Jay Z called "Off That". Unfortunately, Drake doesn't have a verse on the song, he's only on the hook. Hey Jay, smart move.
I had to include the "Every Girl" remix which features a bunch of Young Money rappers. Good stuff here, and Wayne's actually not as annoying as he sometimes can be.
