Me And The New T.I. Album Are Getting To Be Good Friends

I've always liked T.I. I Don't know what he was doing with his last album where he had alter egos or whatever, but I respect him for at least doing something different. Well, on his new album Paper Trail, he sounds like he's rapping like his life depends on it. I guess in way it does. He's about to do a year in jail for trying to buy firearms. On the album he defends himself, as well as takes the blame for what he did. The result: T.I. made his Me Against The World.
It's a solid album, fucking incredible at times. The first two tracks (56 Bars & I'm Illy) have T.I. spitting that slick shit ("broads hit they knees, out they clothes when they greet me/mouth wide open just begging me to skeet skeet). Then there's On Top of The World, his first song together with Ludacris that has a cool hook. Swing Ya Rag is typical Swizz Beats, although for some reason it kind of reminded me of some old Cash Money shit. Rihanna blesses Live Your Life with a nice hook, which sounds like it could be a single (it may be one now. I never listen to the radio so what do I know. And of course, I couldn't leave off Swagger Like Us, featuring Jay Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and a sick hook from M.I.A.
So, yeah T.I. did it again so check it out. I mean shit you can go to Amazon and download it for 3.99. Trust me, it's well worth that. I could go into some long preamble about his court case and shit. Butit's kind of late and I wanna go to bed. So there you go.

Is This Kind Of Shit Really Still Around? Really?

Okay so I'm sitting at work and I hear this song by this band called Hollywood Undead. I guess they're the cool new thing for the kids. Here's my question though: Haven't we seen all this before. We rap, and we play guitar but hey we're still a little sensitive no matter how tough we look. It was called rap metal. And it didn't seem like it would ever fucking end. But finally it did. Apparently the record companies will try anything these days. Sorry, but I'm not buying it, buddy. I don't think I would even be into this if I was a kid. And I was into some bad shit as a kid. Anyways, the song I heard was "Undead (Out The Way)". Lucky for you I couldn't find a video, but someone with way too much time on their hands made a video of their own on YouTube. Enjoy and i'm sorry.

It's Really Fucking Random Music Night Tonight, Baby!

Okay so I'm trying to fight boredom. I'm at work on a Sunday night, registering for fantasy hockey, and so I figured I could post some bullshit tonight. You know me, I'm all about random music. When I walk into a store, I'm always listening to see what song is playing over the PA. Anyway, I spent way too much of my youth watching MTV's Headbangers Ball, so i remember all sorts of random bullshit. So why don't I showcase a few bands right now. Why? Because I'm the man and I can.
First up is a band from Seattle called Mind Funk. They were a grunge band from Seattle (where else?). I really liked this song "Goddess" for some reason.
<><

Next up, New York's own Circus of Power. A very underrated band in my opinion. The riff in this song "Vices" is one of the greatest of all time. Prove me wrong.
<><

Last, but never least, is the great Suicidal Tendencies. I loved this band. When I was a kid they kinda scared me for some reason. It must have been their guitarist's old school Pittsburgh Pirates cap. Anyways this is "Send Me Your Money", one of my favorites from them. Remember in the 80's it was all about how greedy and evil televangelists were? Well, that's what this is about.
<>

So I hope you enjoy my trip down memory lane. I'm sure I'll do something like this again. I'll take requests too if there;s anybody out there. hello...hello...

A reason to put up fun pics....

I have heard things growing up that sounded reasonable but may or may not have been true. Would like to clear up two and maybe get an answer to another. According to wikipedia the end all and be all of answers the daddy long legs spider or Pholcidae is not the most venomous spider in the world. Those mythbusters idiots debunked it. So no fear let those crazy buggers hang out on the ceiling. Next is a story my high skool science teacher Mr. Elliot told that was close to right. It is the conjoined twins who married twins and one died in his sleep and when the other conjoined twin woke up he died at the sight of his other half dead. Wrong. They did marry twins but one twin died in his sleep so they cut the other guy free and he died a week later from cerebro-spinal meninigitis.
And finally the story I heard on the radio about Rick Allen the drummer of Def Leppard who lost his arm. Heard on the radio that the bloody shirt he was wearing during the accident sold at auction. Cant find any answers to that. Any truth to that Wikipedia?

If you've never been to the bay......do come but bring a decent radio station.

Was riding back to the bay area from Yosemite last week and heard a good old fashioned rock radio station. The Rock 96.7 out of Modesto. The bay area is missing a rock station. Yeah we got the bone 107.7. But it doesn't feel very rock listening to the Steven Seaweed interview Joe Satriani about working with Sammy Hagar and their new band chickenhead during the bonehead bone yard bone lunch bone bone bone. There is live 105 but cmon you can only play muse and red hot chili peppers so many times before it gets old, right? Don't get me wrong live 105 has its good points like playing imports and alternative stuff but it ain't no rock station no matter how many times they play metallica. Anyways I lost steam between writing the intro part and putting together their top ten list. Its actually nine cuz couldnt find a song. What was my point? I dont remember but that Theory of a Dead man song made me laugh when i heard it. Its awful but good at the same time.

And just for the hell of it, since we here at Couldn't Care Less have been Lil Wayne fans for over 10 years now, check out this classic video of B.G. and Cash Money doing the classic "Bling Bling". Remember when everyone was rich so it was all about throwing your money around, buying ridiculous jewelry? Good times, Good times.

Could Chinese Democracy ACTUALLY Be Coming Out This Year?

Look, this album has turned into a joke, but the latest is that Guns N Roses long long long long long etc. awaited album Chinese Democracy will finally be coming out in November. The catch is that it will be distributed exclusively through Best Buy. I've heard a handful of the songs and you know they actually weren't bad. And the tracks I heard were of pretty shitty quality. My hopes aren't as high for this as they should be, but I have a feeling people may be suprised by how good some songs are. However I don't know which songs will be on there. Of course lets not get too excited. This is Chinese Democracy we're talking about. I'll believe this album is coming out when I walk into a Best Buy and see it on their shelves. You know I LOVED GNR as a kid. They came out at the perfect time for me growing up. It's sad to know that only Axl remains from the original lineup. However we can always relive the good ol' days via You Tube. Check out GNR doing Mr. Brownstone live at the Ritz in New York City. I remember this concert airing on MTV as a kid. It was one awesome. Enjoy.

My New Favorite Wrestler - Jack Swagger

So you can catch this guy on Tuesday night's on ECW. Yeah, we know, it's not the original ECW, but it's actually not a bad show. Alot of young, up and coming talent, including Jack Swagger. He's still green, but he's got alot of potential. Also, I put up alot of stuff last night and I couldn't think of anything else to put up right now. But I'm sure I will at some point. Until then, enjoy Jack Swagger taking on former TNA tag team wrestler Chase Stevens. Yeah, I know it's really sad that I know that. But that's why they pay me the big money here at Couldn't Care Less.

Why I Love Pro Wrestling

I've been a pro wrestling fan just about all my life. I remember my grandpa used to watch the NWA when I was a little kid. I got to see Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Tully Blanchard (one of my all time favorites) and I was hooked from the get go. But it wasn't until I saw this that I realized how captivating Pro wrestling could be. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff became my favorite wrestler. In fact when the WWF action figures came out, he was the first one I bought. One of many. I HATED Hulk Hogan, the guy who was supposed to be every boys hero. It was Orndorff who made me realize how great it was to be the bad guy.
Orndorff and Hogan would go on to feud for a long time. Eventually the two would end up in a 15 foot high steel cage for Hogan's WWF Championship. I still remember watching that match with my childhood friend Daniel Berger at his house. So much emotion came out as I hoped that somehow Orndorff would finally take that belt away from Hogan and become champion. But, after one of the greatest finishes to a wrestling match ever, Hogan survived Orndorff and his manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to remain champ. Still pisses me off to this day. I guess that's why I keep watching this stuff after all these years.

Hogan vs. Orndorff in a cage, part 1.

Anyone Remember This?

I saw this awhile back and thought it was cool. John Stewart used to have his own talk show on MTV back in the day. And thanks to You Tube we can see now that he had some REALLY good bands on said show. I barely remember the show, but now that I see some of the bands on there, it makes me wonder where I was for all this. Oh yeah, I was getting stoned. Anyways, here's Marilyn Manson doing "Lunchbox",
<>

Faith No More playing "Digging The Grave",
<><

and, finally Quicksand doing "Thorn In My Side" from the Manic Compression album, their second and final release.

Just kidding, I knew that already. But how cool is this? TV on The Radio playing one of my all time favorite songs ever "Wolf Like Me" live on David Letterman. Honestly I haven't heard much from this band, but this song is fucking incredible. And they kill it here live. Check it out, yo.

All Hail Testosterone!

We love football, don't we? Oh yeah, we LOVE FOOTBALL!! Especially when we see big hits like the one Maryland's Kevin Barnes put on Cal's Jahvid Best a few weeks back. I'm sure there have been bigger hits over the years, but how many guys get hit so hard they lose their lunch. Damn! This kind of looks like me in the town car after Shade's bachelor party. Up Early In The Morning, Dressed In Black

I'm in mourning. Well, this didn't just happen. I've been in mourning for a few years now. Who died, you ask? The local record store died. When I was a kid, I had so many choices of where to buy the that new Skid Row tape. I could go to the mall and go to Musicland or The Record Factory. Or maybe I'll go down the street a little bit to the Wherehouse. Or I could go across the street to Tower Records. Shit, for a short time, there was a Rainbow Records put in just down the street from me. I walked there often, and I even remember buying Quiet Riot's Metal Health tape there. Years later there was a great store called CD Warehouse, which was the first place to go to find used cd's. Not only that, they would let you listen to the CD first to see whether or not you wanted to buy it. And they also paid a pretty good price for your CD's if you wanted to sell them. Now, I gotta drive out of my way to go to Rasputins. Yeah, it's a great store. It's also the only tROO record store we've got left around these parts. As a guy, I guess I should love Best Buy and all it stands for. But, come on! Everything is paint by numbers. It's a corporate bullshit store. Target and Walmart sell cd's too (And if you want the new AC/DC album, you can only go to Walmart to get it). But you're not going to get anything out of the ordinary. You're not gonna find that gem you may have been looking for for years. That's what an old school record store can do for you. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe i need to get with the times and realize that CD's are for old 31 year old men like me. Everythings digital. Now, i have an Ipod and I actually enjoy it. I like that I can sit in my underwear in the morning and download the new Amon Amarth. But I'm telling you, it's just not the same. I've spent a good amount of my life in random record stores. Slider and myself would go together all the time, looking for random 7 inches or odd CD's that you probably couldn't find elsewhere. For a music nerd like myself, there's just nothing like it. But even when i do go into one now, it's not the same as it used to be. Something's missing. I guess it's just because the times have changed. Maybe i just long for the days of being a kid and buying a cd from of a band I had only heard of, going home and putting it on and realizing that I had a new favorite band that week. Maybe that feeling is dead and gone. Must be why I'm in mourning.

AAAHHHHRRRRRR!!!! (PART 2)

This fucking night won't end, or get better. So we need something a little stronger. Stronger than Pig Destoyer? Yeah, it's gotten to that point. So, is there such a thing? I'm not sure. Hey, how about Origin? Crazy, technical, heavier than Joh Goodman eating cake. Yeah, this will do the trick. Crank this as loud as it goes, because, well, it just sounds soooo much better that way.

The good, the bad and the ugly...

Here is the good. Its one of my favorite animal movies. No its not Jay Leno petting a muskrat its the battle at kruger. The clip was a big deal a couple months back but thought I would put a link up. Its a long clip eight minutes and forty three seconds long so sit back and relax. Battle at Kruger

The bad is, well its not really bad it might be yummy if you like pesto. I aint no good in the kitchen, about the only thing I can do is burn toast but one of my favorite foods is the grilled cheese sandwich. A variation I ran across was the pesto grilled cheese. Easy to make and very yummy. Here is a recipe thats a little more involved than what i do and they use mozzarella while i like provolone. Now onto the ugly. Was at the market looking at the magazines when i saw the cover of one of those lad mags with the transformer girl on the cover. And all i could think was david silver is with her.

Condolences and when did this start...

I know its football season but i would like to wish condolences to the Milwaukee Brewers. No the baseball season has not ended and miracles do happen but the brewers once again will not being playing in October. They haven't been there since 83? Here's to blowing it once again.
Onto other sports crap. When did it become nessecary to hear what athletes or coaches have to say. After every highlight now they have some yakety yak about how they want to help the ball club and try hard. I don't remember hearing joe montana say much he just looked meek and won. Same for Bill Walsh, not much to say just the stern look of one mean S.O.B.. Athletes have nothing to say. Unless they are going to show real emotions and cut promos like pro wrestlers which I would love (at this point there would be a video of former raiders QB Rich Gannon calling a reporter "Some jake. Some jack reporter, probably." but that video is not on the Internet. Imagine that. So I went with my second favorite when athletes attack video.

I want to watch sports not listen to the blah blah so shut up and play unless you can cut a interview like Ric Flair WOOOOOOOO!!!!
On a totally random tangent you know that Lupe Fiasco song Dumb it down? He says "And I'm brainless which means I'm headless like Ichabod Crane is" which is a cool line and the fallowing line even better but Ichabod Crane wasn't headless he was the constable not the horseman. Not that I read the book or anything but did see the movie with Depp and Ricci. Not going anywhere with that thought, maybe i'm just dumb.....

How About A Little Love For Duran Duran

Okay, we all have guilty pleasures, right? Some worse than others. Well, for me I can never get enough Duran Duran. See, I grew up listening to them and i remember my sister having them all over her wall. There was one night where there was a Duran Duran concert on some channel we didn't get and we watched the scrambled TV and just listened. Shit, my sister even had the Duran Duran Arena board game for Christ's sake. So there will always be a special place in my heart for those British fuckers. Most people only remember them for "Rio" and "Hungry Like The Wolf", but i wanted to let you know that there's more to them then that. Check out two of my favorites, "Careless Memories" and "Is There Something I Should Know", both from their first album I believe. Enjoy.

Hey Metallica, I Stole Your Album

Yeah I did it. And you know what? It felt great. If it was a normal band I would have gladly paid the money and purchased the album. (Isn't it funny how we still call them albums? Even as the times change, we can't change that. It just doesn't sound good to say, "hey I got the Stryper digital download"). But I just couldn't help myself. So how is it, you ask? Well, uh, it's, uh okay. I mean, look, it's not going to be MASTER OF PUPPETS ever again. Let's be honest. The band who made all those classic albums 20 plus years ago is dead and buried (Including Cliff Burton, literally). We just need to understand that. DEATH MAGNETIC was supposed to be a return to the old Metallica heaviness. Wel, it is and it isn't. Alot of the riffs feel like you've heard them before. James Hetfield's vocals aren't great. Lars is Lars. You can barely hear bassist Rob Trujillo (formerly of the incredible Suicidal Tendencies). But Kirk Hammitts guitars are pretty fuckin smokin'. He's the best part of DEATH MAGNETIC.
So all in all, the album isn't bad. Some of the songs are pretty good ("This Was Just Your Life", All Nightmare Long". Some, not so much. (The Unforgiven 3?!?!?! Really?) It's worth a listen. Don't agree with their choice of a first single with "The Day That Never Comes" but that's beside the point. If you're a lifelong Metallica fan, you'll probably like it. If you're old school, you may or may not. So give it a listen. Just don't pay for it.

If You Don't Know, Now You Know - Jawbox

I continue my attempt to get somebody to listen to great bands. This would make 3 in a row. What do they all have in common? They're all broken up. But that's okay. Because this music is timeless. Today, we talk about Washington DC's own Jawbox. They were a post hardcore/indie band. For some reason this band always stuck with me through the years. Their album FOR YOUR OWN SPECIAL SWEETHEART is a classic. I recently bought is again, because my only copy was on cassette. Remember the cassette tape? Anyways, that's for another time. For now just enjoy the goodness of Jawbox. Here's the video for their classic song "Savory" which was later covered by my personal favorite band, the Deftones. Also, as a bonus because I think you're so cute, here's "FF=66". Also worth noting that Jawbox does a great cover of Tori Amos' "Cornflake Girl" that's worth checking out. Enjoy and you're welcome.

You Stay Classy, Josh Howard.

Okay so I'll be the first to admit that I'm pretty tired of the National Anthem. Truthfully, it's a little old to me. I've been saying for years that it's time to try a new song. Until that day however, this is what we're stuck with. Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so. Dallas Mavericks star Josh Howard said recently that he doesn't celebrate the national anthem because he's black. While I understand his thinking, here's a thought: Why not at least celebrate it because it's allowed you to make millions of dollars for playing the game of basketball. If not that, then at least show some respect to all the people overseas fighting for us right now. Huh, maybe? Think about it. We'll talk later.

In The "Damn This Is Really Fucking Sad" Dept.,

As a damn near life long wrestling fan, I found it pretty sad to see what happened this past weekend. Jake "The Snake" Roberts was at an independent show. Now, recentley Jake went through a rehab stint that was paid for by WWE. I guess it didn't work. He struggles through his "match" with some indy wrestler, who's so pissed off he just pins him as quick as possible to end this debacle. Poor Jake has a had these problems for years. I remember the Hereo's Of Wrestling Pay Per View many years ago where Jake was so messed up he pulled his pants down and showed off his OTHER snake. Yeah. Anyway, here's hoping Jake can put this behind him. He always was a real talent. Here's the video from the event, which also includes wild backstage footage.

Did Local H make the album of the year?

Okay, so the year's not quite over yet. I'm sure some more shit will be coming out soon. But I'll be honest with you, I can't stop listening to Local H's 12 ANGRY MONTHS. So the thing is it's a concept album about a breakup. Each song represents a different month of feelings of the breakup. Cool, right? It starts out with accusations of stealing one's record collection to meeting your ex's rebound, to not wanting to let go and finally the realization that its over. At first I thought this was their best record in years. Then I was convinced it's the best album they've ever made. Now, it's leading the pack #1 on my year end list. Some may be wondering about Lil' Wayne. Yeah solid album. But there were a few songs on there I wasn't all that into (I'm looking at you Robin Thicke). So who ever is reading this should give this one a spin and see for yourself. And because I love you, here's a live clip of Local H playing the first two songs off 12 ANGRY MONTHS, "The One With Kid" and "Michelle" from San Diego. Oh yeah, you're welcome.

I got a great idea!

The problem with this country, you know besides healthcare, the environment, homelessness, the economy, high gas prices, etc. is that TV right now is the drizzling shits. Why not create a cutting edge show. Like, maybe, oh I don't know, there's this family, right? And everything is pretty normal. Except, are you sitting down, the daughter is a ROBOT. Wouldn't you watch that shit? Wait, you mean they already tried that? Like, 20 years ago? And it's not still on? This country is crumbling before us.

If you don't know, now you know -Failure

Failure. It describes most of us. However, it also is the name of an incredible band. Their album FANTASTIC PLANET is a drugged out classic. And even though I don't do drugs anymore, I can still appreciate it's greatness. Their biggest "hit" was "Stuck on You", a song that's actually kinda buried at the end of the album. See, kids, FANTASTIC PLANET is and actual album. Not a cd with a few cool songs, and 10 crappy ones. It's an album, you listen to it all the way through, and there's a theme. Imagine that. Another great song from that album was "Saturday Saviour". So enjoy that as well. What happened to Failure, you ask? Good question. Ken Andrews went on form Year of the Rabbit, whose album was okay. Their drummer Troy was in A Perfect Circle and as far as I know is currently still in Queens of the Stone Age. Also Paramore covered "Stuck on You" which is so terrible it almost makes you wish the song was never written at all. If you don't know, now you know, bitches.

What, you're school wasn't like this?

Why not, right? Because I'm sure there's plenty of people who just don't know about the genius of Britney Fox. Well today is your lucky day. here's a band from the 80's hair metal days that just doesn't get its just due. Maybe this song is the reason why. Dizzy Dean was the singer, if you call that singing. He makes TomKeifer from Cinderella sound like Barry White. As great is Girlschool is I think my favorite Britney Fox song would have to be "Save The Weak". Wow, subtle. Anyways why don't you judge for yourself. This will be the hardest choice you'll ever make.

If you don't know, now you know - Quicksand

Ok, time for the good. here's a band from NYC that I absolutely LOVED. Like, really will always hold a small place in my heart for. Insane riffs, killer breakdowns, that driving bass, vocals when you didn't expect them. This was a band that did no wrong. Of course they only made two albums, so they didn't have time to fail. Their first album, SLIP was a perfect 10. Their follow up, MANIC COMPRESSION, was a little different, but still had that incredible sound. I haven't heard a band since that sounded anything like them. Mainman Walter Schreifels went on form Rival Schools, who made one album that I actually liked. It looks like their back together however because they're playing the Bottom of the Hill in October. I think me and Slider should go to that. Oh fuck I'm working. Of course. Oh well, enjoy the greatness that is Quicksand.

Is this T-Pain thing over yet?

Alright everyone, it's been going on long enough now. Okay maybe it was cute at first. But seriously, are people really into T-Pain? I could understand if he was in the circus or something, he'd be an interesting character. Maybe even a Disney movie. But C'mon. This guy is rapidly catching up to R-Kelly in the "My Songs Are Fucking Pathetic" race. Sure his hook on Kanye West's "The Good Life" was alright, but anyone could have done that. To make things worse, his new single even makes Lil Wayne sound terrible. It sounds like they recorded Wayne while he was halfway passed out from a promethezine coma. There are rumours of these two making an album together. Yikes.
