Frosted Mini-Wheats is one of those few cereals that hugs the line between adult and kid cereal. It is healthy enough to be an adult cereal (shredded wheat = tons of fiber = regularity), but sugary enough to be a kids cereal. How many other cereals have you seen where the sugar is caked on like frosting? So it has a bit of an identity crisis. Kelloggs knows this and has has exploited it in their commercials. In the 80's FM-W was targeted to adults with the promise that it would make them feel like a kid again. There were tons of commercials with adults shrinking to become child versions of themselves in adult clothes.
Around this time there was the introduction of the bite size version of FM-W, a much needed change in my opinion. Back before bite size a 3 inch log was considered "mini" compared to the old shredded wheat that used to come in bricks.
Nowadays FM-W are mostly marketed to the younger crowd. Since, until recently, it has never been considered a kid's cereal, there has not been any cartoony mascot, but in the commercials now there are a bunch of cartoon mini-wheats telling kids to eat them. Its kinda creepy to me. I wouldn't want my cereal talking to me while I ate his brothers and sisters.
About 2 years ago someone at Kellogg's realized that they could flavor the mini-wheats with all kinds of shit they had lying around from other failed cereals and oatmeal flavors. So we have
Blueberry Muffin, Cinnamon Streusel, Maple & Brown Sugar, Strawberry Delight, and Vanilla Crème. They all taste like what you would expect the corresponding fake flavor to taste like. The best part about it is that you can actually make the case that they are good for you unlike say Cookie Crisp.
Answer on the Lucky Charms Quiz. Blue Diamonds came first, then Purple Horseshoes, then Red Balloons, then Rainbows, then Pot of Gold, when pot of gold was introduced they changed the Yellow Moons to Blue and phased out the Blue Diamonds, then Leprecaun Hats, then Shooting Stars replaced the Orange Stars, and finally Hourglasses were introduced just this year!

Cookie Crisp isn't good for me? But it's sooo good. I actually just bought some mini wheats this weekend. Those original ones were huge so it's a good thing they downsized.
