Remember the early 90's? Sure you do. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, uh Candlebox? Sorry, anyway, yeah great time, huh? But what about those poor hair bands who got wiped off the planet, never to be heard from again until nostalgia hit? Well, the funny thing is those bands actually still put out music during that time. Don't believe me? Well, I got proof bitches.
First up is Warrant. C'mon you remember Warrant. "Cherry Pie"? Ok, good. Now their first two albums sold like crack, but then in 1992 they released Dog Eat Dog which somehow went gold, but was far from the platinum they were used to. That album spawned the cheesy as all fuck "Machine Gun" video where they all looked real tough in their leather. After that in 1995 they put out Ultraphobic and nobody gave a damn. Check out "Family Picnic" from that album.
Next up is Poison. Their first three albums were very successful. A string of hits, one after another. Then Guitarist C.C. Deville was kicked to the curb for being a total cokehead. He was replaced by Ritchie Kotzen. The album Native Tongue was a bit of a departure, but still ended up selling a million copies. Here's the video for "Stand", a song you probably don't know.
Poison also released an album after this one called Crack a Smile, but I couldn't find a single for that one. What does that tell you?
Finally there's Skid Row, one of my favorite bands of this era. Same old story: First two records did great. Second album Slave To The Grind is still a classic. Their third album Sub-Human Race, not so much. It came out in 1995. The question was, was the album different, of did the musical climate change so much, that a new Skid Row album just seemed irrelevant? I'm not sure. Judge for yourself with the video for "My Enemy"
This was their final album with singer Sebastian Bach. It was also the end of their relevance.
Yeah so there you have it. Bet you never heard any of that shit, huh? I also bet that you never really gave a damn either.
