Hey Remember This - Metal Edge Magazine

So for me when I was a kid, there was nothing like heavy metal magazines. My dad was a manager at a grocery store, so he would bring home all sorts of metal mags like Circus or Hit Parader for me, and then 16 and Bop for my sister.

But later on I discovered Metal Edge. It was strange, I'll admit. very glossy, which totally fit because the music at the time was the same way. Hair metal. Nothing but hair metal. Sure, sometimes you'd get a little update on Metallica or Anthrax too. But mainly it was Motley Crue and Poison. I always felt a little strange reading it because it seemed at times like a magazine strictly for girls. But was it? That was so maddening. They had good interviews, but also plenty of color pics of Bret Michaels in various poses. They didn't really review albums, but they covered alot of bands, bands that were semi-known(Britny Fox, Pretty Boy Floyd)and bands that just never were (Sleex Beez?) I mean if it wasn't for Metal Edge, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Kik Tracee or Babylon A.D.. So, yeah, it may be their fault that I'm such a pathetic music nerd. Anyways, I loved this crappy magazine. It's still around, but just isn't the same. I love the metal bands of today, don't get me wrong. But I guess things just never can compare to when you were a kid. This is just another one of those scenerios. Long live crappy hair metal!!
