I am not sure if this has already been brought up here but just in case it hasn't, there is a new movie that is getting its U.S. premiere this week called "The Wrestler" and it stars Mickey Rourke of Sin City fame and as Randy "The Ram" Robinson. (So Cool!) The film follows the life of Rouke's character who is a washed up wrestler whose 80's heyday has long since past, and he is spending his time working at a grocery store and picking up random wrestling gigs at high school auditoriums. All the while he is trying to reconnect with his daughter, Evan Rachel Wood, and a local stripper, Marisa Tomei. (So Hot!)
Before you go getting all excited, you should know that the movie is only playing in New York at the film festival there and is not set to be released until December 19th. However, there are some reviews hitting the net and they all seem very favorable to ole Mr. Rourke. Here is one from Salon.com. This could be the comeback role he has been looking for.
For you film fans, the movie was directed by Darren Aronofsky who is responsible for the very awesomely disturbing & depressing "Requiem for a Dream" and also "Pi". He also directed "The Fountain" but let's try to forget that.
If you are like me and are thinking that this is a contender for movie of the year, then CLICK HERE and you will be taken to the official website. There is not much there bu you can enter your email for future updates.
